Johanson.
Vänliga
hälsningar

Peter Olson/Olsson
|
|
This is of Per Olofsson, who
changed his name to Peter Olson/Olsson in the U.S.A. He was a brother
of Lars Ganstrom/Ganström.
Per/Peter was born December 25, 1830, in Näs, and died December 06,
1896, in Sibley Township, Cloud County, Kansas. He was buried December
7, 1896, in Gotland Cemetery, Sibley Township, Cloud County, Kansas. He
was married twice - his first wife was Brita Gertrud Persdotter who died
before 1880, and his second wife was Anna P. Errickson, born April 25,
1851, in Sweden, and died April 09, 1936, at the Sunset Home, Concordia,
Cloud County, Kansas. I don't know which wife is pictured with him.

Louise
Ganstrom from Concordia, Kansas, USA, was kind enough to send me pictures
and I thought you might be interested.
The
picture attached to this e-mail is of Lars Gahnstrom (Ganstrom) and his second
wife, Christina Rosvall Taylor Ganstrom (born in Lilla Rosarve, Havdhem,
Gotland, Sweden. He was born on May 20, 1835, in Nas, Gotland, Sweden,
died April 28, 1903, in Sibley Township, Cloud County, Kansas, and was
buried May 01, 1903, in Gotland Cemetery, Sibley Township, Cloud County,
Kansas.
He emigrated from Sweden to the USA in 1870.
Obituary
of Lars Ganstrom from the KANSAN, Concordia, Kansas, May 7, 1903:
"L.
Gahnstrom, of Sibley Twp., died at his home of heart failure, April 28th
at
4 p.m. He was out in his yard a few minutes before and talked to some friends
and shortly afterward came to the house and complained of his heart and
in about 15 minutes he was dead. Nobody had time to come to his death bed
except his wife whom he told "good-bye".
He
was born in Gothland Sweden, May 20, 1835, came here in 1870 where he
built
a fine home for himself and family. He was a kind husband and father and
an honored citizen. He was one of the first Baptists in Sweden and was baptized
there in 1858, during great persecution against the Baptists at that time
in Sweden.
He
was among those who organized the first Swedish Baptist Churches in this
state
and city and was an earnest member, and was secretary for many years and
up to the time of his death. Only a short time ago the church surprised him
at his happy home with a valuable writing desk, to show him their Christian
love. When the house of worship in town was built, he gave a good deal
of his means.
The
funeral services were held at his home, conducted by Rev. August
Johnson.
Over
50 carriages followed his remains to the grave and all felt the loss of a
long tried friend."

Christina Westberg. She was born October 23, 1837, in Gotland, and died
in 1873, three years after emigrating to the USA with her husband and
children.
Their
fifth, and last child, was born during this three year period. She is
buried at St. Pierre Farm, Sibley Township, Cloud County, Kansas, and a
memorial marker was placed in the Gotland Cemetery for her.
